Nagesh you disappoint me.

Nagesh Kukunoor was one of my favorite movie makers. It wasn’t the movies which I liked it was the unique storyline. All his movies had unusual stories and plots whether its Teen Deewarien, Hyderabad Blues 1 & 2, Rockford, Iqbal or Bollywood Calling. I felt that he had this unique creativity in all the stories.

I read the review of his latest movie Dor and boy it was disappointing. I have nothing against the movie it must have been well made haven’t seen it yet, its the plot outline coz its not an original one its lifted from a mallu movie or I guess two of them. Well I don’t see anything wrong in getting inspired but somehow I feel that Nagesh effect isn’t there now, dude where is your trademark creativity, hope it doesn’t get lost for commercial success.

The trek to Salher

Salher fort is the highest fort in Maharashtra located near a village called Waghamba in Nashik. Its near the Gujarat border you can see Gujarat from the top of the fort. This was the first time we were visiting this fort, so we just had a fair idea about the travelling details from the Internet. We started off on Friday night from Shivajinagar, Pune, we caught a bus at 11:30 Pm for Nashik. Reached Nashik by 3:30 early morning, the bus left us at the new ST stand we had to catch a bus to Satana from Nashik, the bus for Satana was from the old ST stand which is 5 mins walk from the new one. The bus for Satana was from 5 in the morning. We thought we would hang around there till then but we met a paper delivery guy who had a van and was on his way to Satana at the same rate and we decided to hitchhike with him. We were waiting in the van and the paper delivery dude had gone somewhere for a couple of mins a police jeep pulled next to us.

Carry On Munnabhai

Saw Lage Raho Munnabhai today, its a must watch movie. Its an ode to the Mahatma. Hats off to the director he has effectively used a mumbaiyya bhai to teach Gandhiji’s ideology of non violence or as Munnabhai says Gandhigiri. Some scenes of the movie gives you goosebumps, dunno about others but it gave me. The music is also good actually I heard the songs today for the first time in the movie. The best numbers are ‘Bandhe Me Ta Dum Vande Mataram‘ and ‘Pal Pal’ . It had the same effect on the people similar to what Rang De Basanti had only difference was that the execution of the idea was using humour. Well Rang De Basanti had the extremist camp of freedom fighters and here we had the apostle of non violence. You could see many moist eyes during some scenes and people clapping like frenzy during some scenes especially the one where an old teacher fights for his pension. Its not a sequel to the first one, Munnabhai M.B.B.S., the characters are the same and the story is new, similar to the Carry On series may be that’s why its called Lage Raho  translation means Carry On !. Hope to see similar antics of Munnabhai and Circuit, may be a Munnabhai in Kashmir !!!
