Im pissed off
This news says that the new chief justice is the first dalit to become one, as if that was the only criteria.
When Dr. Kalam became the president he being a Muslim was highlighted all other accomplishments had to take a back seat, same issue happened when his predecessor K.R. Narayanan took over. His being a dalit was highlighted, not that he was an excellent IFS officer, it wasn’t one publication or channel it was a trend shown by everyone.
According to Hindustan Times (that’s the one I read lately) Sreesanth is a "Kerala" paceman/cricketer, same goes with "Banglorean" Bhupathi and "Hyderabadi" Sania Mirza, aren’t they Indians ???
Why do these media guys have to highlight things like caste, religion,region etc instead of the individual’s capability?
I feel that if we want to make a society without any discrimination then such trivial things shouldn’t be highlighted and the fourth estate has a more responsible role to play.
