Isha Yoga Inner Engineering
I have been attending Isha Yoga Inner Engineering course for the past few days.
There was no particular reason for attending; one day I saw a poster felt like enrolling and I did.
One of the few last minute decisions which I have made and don’t repent.
I didn’t know what this program was all about. I thought that the course would be about asanas more like the popular form of yoga as we know.
It turned out to be something else, it was more about inner development and they don’t teach asanas like the ones on TV. You come to know that there’s more to yoga.
They teach you a kriya called Shambhavi Mahamudra, I had heard about it but never knew what it would be like. When I had my initiation into that kriya it was a different experience, few minutes in that kriya and I started vibrating. My head was oscillating like a pendulum felt like I was head banging, after the initiation I have performed it twice same experience but the intensity has reduced. It’s a different feeling after doing the kriya, since it’s been only one day since I started practicing it so I really can’t say whether there has been any noticeable changes in my behavior or mental state but I’m sure that it would happen in the coming months as I go on doing it the first impression was wonderful.
Apart from the kriya we had group sessions where you need to do homework and share your experiences; also they put up a projector and show discourses of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev the man behind Isha Yoga. These discourses are very interesting; they are not of the moral preaching type. Sahdguru is an excellent orator and the discourses were very enlightening for a rationalist like me because every thing was explained in a very scientific and logical manner. He used stories, interesting analogies and of course science to explain a lot of spiritual stuff which was all Greek and Latin before.
Check out in this interview with Shekar Gupta on NDTV’s Walk the Talk he explians the logic behind one of the biggest superstitions in India of cat crossing your path.
Try it if you get an opportunity.
