My GTD journery so far

My GTD journery so far has been good, one thing I learnt is that it is not a silver bullet to get you rid of procrastination.emoticon

It’s surely helped me feel good because success always gives you a high.

That’s a primary reason why solving puzzles helps the brain.

It gives small doses of success.

GTD does something similar completing a task on time gives your brain a kick, the magnitude might be small but it does help especially when you complete many such small tasks.

Due to GTD I have been able to complete such small tasks and it surely makes me feel good, especially big ones like these.

After reading this my next milestone would be to clean my file drawers and table, it may sound like a very simple task but only I know how big the monster is.

I always belonged to school which believd that an empty desk shows an empty mind emoticon

My GTD book

This is my GTD book, took me at least an hour to create it with some help.

Spending an hour in creating it has actually made me use it.

I feel good ol pen and paper is better for implementing GTD especially for lazy bums like me.

I have created tabs for various actions and also for Inbox, Projects, Waiting, Someday maybe, Read, Refrence and also added a writing pad tab where I can do all the rough work.

My calendars stay inside a side jacket.

The other side jacket is for projects.

This is the close up of the action tabs.

The other tabs are kept on the top and bottom of the book.

Snap of the top tabs.

And the snap shown below is of the bottom tabs but it hasnt come in clearly, it contains Pad, Someday/Maybe and reference.

GTD going strong

Finally started implementing GTD serioulsy.

The good thing about GTD is that if you slack away, which lazy bums like me do constantly getting back on the bus ain’t that  hard.

Made a GTD book, was using Thinking Rock for some time, the new version is really awesome in implementing GTD, but the problem which I faced was that after office hours you dont feel like loggin on to your home computer and working.

Also I spend a lot of time travelling, thats when I do most of my inbox processing, so I went back to good ol pen and paper.

Spent more than an hour on a Saturday evening in making the book, one more reason to actually use it.

After the first mind sweep the book is almost full, freak I never knew I had so much to do.

Here is a great link on why one should implemet the Next Action list.

Life improvement

I have decided to start using GTD in trying (its still trying) to help me out with procrastination.

I’m sure that Im the uncrowned king of procrastinators, I dont have a crown since the coronation was always kept off (thats a good line and I made it myself … I do have creative skills !!!).

Have read a lot about GTD lets see whether it works for me.

I’m using Thinking Rock to help me with GTD.

The problem with me is that I would start things with tons of enthu but somehow it gets drained off mid way.

It has always happened with me whether its karate, swimming, typing , JEE, HAM, CAT classes, gym, jogging…….. the list goes on.

I would take an interest in something and start doing it, things would move smoothly for couple of months (2 years in case of karate) and suddenly all interest is lost or something more interesting comes up.

Somehow its not reflected in my professional career might be theres a Damocles sword hanging around always, naukri nahi hai to kya hoga  !!!

Today has been good let me hope that things would change after all the king has to give off the crown and kingdom someday.
