Reliance Broadnet Sucks

They suck big time.

Just four days and I have applied for disconnection.

Their speed is good but only when its connected which is a big IF.

In these four days only the first two days it worked well then it went kaput.

The customer service is the biggest let down, they hardly give you any form of timeframe, having worked in a customer service industry even 24 hours would have been ok for me but these guys are a bunch of losers.

I would never recommend it to anyomne.

Chinese wake up call

This is a video of some Chinese folks learning English (via Digital Inspiration) it might seem funny to some.

It shows how innovative and determined the Chinese people are.

It’s time for the Indian IT/BPO industry to wake up to some serious competition else they would end up being a boiled frog.

The determination of the Chinese is way above the complacent work culture we have in India.

Was wondering what would have happened if we had done something similar in India, probably the parliament would have been disrupted or even riots.

With the kind of mob rule which has caught up lately anything is possible.

Have installed Mandriva and XP on Ubuntu.

Have got KDE in Mandriva and GNOME in Ubuntu, was testing virtulization using Virtual Box.

Virtual Box was quite easy to use, would upload screenshots later of the installation steps.

This is how it looks.

Airtel’s URL is www.airtel.in  but if you type in www.airtel.com it brings up Vodafone’s spanish site.

Airtel may not be a competitor for Vodafone in Spain but they sure are in India.

Tux has landed

Installed Ubuntu on my new computer.

Posting this entry from it.

Im really impressed with it emoticon functionality wise its much better than all other distros I tried to install on my old computer.

The Live CD feature helped me into deciding whether its right for me.

Only problem is the net connectivity, its because the Linux dialer which the Sify guys give doesn’t work well.

I called up Sify customer care they sent an engineer who said I dont know Linux…so simple.
Good for me because I started experimenting and finally it worked. emoticon

The workaround I tried was to connect in Windows (I have got dual boot the computer is used by others too) and then restart the compter in Ubuntu.

The Ubuntu forums give fast solutions for noobs like me.

Heres a screenshot of my desktop in Ubuntu.

Downloaded this wallpaper from here.

How to search blocked job sites using Google

I was experimenting today and found that you can use Google and search job sites especially blocked ones.

Step 1 : Open Google and put in your search string and append it with site:www.THE JOB SITE YOU WANT.com

Say you want to search for job openings for engineers in Mumbai on Naukri.com

Then type

   engineer mumbai site:www.naukri.com

Step 2:
When you get the results page don’t click on the link. Click on ‘cached’ pages link.

This way even if someone checks your proxy log it wouldn’t show that you visited any job sites.

Check this image

I have tried it only with Naukri.

You can try this not only for job sites but for other sites too provided they have got static content and you dont have to log in.

Digital Inspiration has got a lots of tricks for trying sites anonymously.
